Hello! My name is Brooke A. Thivierge, (BAT's Studio). I gradated with my Bachelors in Fine Arts from New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2017. I am fluent in all drawing and painting mediums. In college I had the great opportunity to work in ceramics, book arts, sculpture, metal smithing and print making.

My senior thesis in college was Endangered Species-
Painting plants and animals in a work of art preserves their beauty, individual characteristics, and their need for survival. Art may be the only way of experiencing these species in the future. This haunting factor plays a crucial role in our present lives. We are more connected to nature than most people acknowledge. Today the detachment from nature is world wide. My representations of species from around the world evokes the viewer to challenge what they take for granted.

Currently, I am focusing on pottery. I work primarily throwing on the wheel and then carving into the form to create a desired surface design. I enjoy pottery because of the functionality of the piece. Being able to actually use the finished product is a very exciting factor for me. To physically hold a mug or a bowl in your bare hands creates a connection to that piece of art. That relationship should spark joy. Which is why pottery is so stimulating for me. Painting is great, don't get me wrong, but I can't drink tea out of a 3 foot canvas. Pottery has become my new passion. I am proud to be able to bring many different art mediums to the table (no pun intended).

Like my 2D work, inspiration for my pottery also comes from Nature. All of my surface designs and sculptural aspects always represent something from the natural world. My deer antler mugs symbolize my roots. I grew up and still live in Upstate NY, where wildlife is plentiful. I've always felt a strong connection to Nature. When I was young, if you couldn't find me, I was either in the woods admiring the forest or in my room drawing.

My art embodies who I am. As an artist one the greatest feelings is to have your work appeal to others. I hope my creations can bring the same happiness to you as it does to me.
